Where I build in public
Reality: I’m a student contributor making small documentation fixes, onboarding notes, and experimental branches. Everything here is unpaid, evidence-linked, and built with heavy AI/tutor support.
What open-source contributions has Bradley Matera made?
Bradley Matera has contributed to two CIRIS AI projects: the CIRIS AI Ethics Engine (Node.js) with two merged PRs for documentation fixes and bug reports, and the CIRIS Covenant site with a merged documentation PR for deployment notes. All contributions are evidence-linked with public PR URLs and documented AI-assisted workflows.
What open-source projects is Bradley Matera working on next?
Current work-in-progress includes accessibility CI templates (packaging Axe/Lighthouse CI recipes into a reusable workflow) and an ethical AI working group (documenting governance checklists for CIRIS). Both are in prototyping stage with no upstream PRs yet — status is tracked quarterly in the Contributions hub.

Proof-backed updates
CIRIS AI Ethics Engine
- Followed the setup docs, filed bugs I hit, and opened lightweight PRs (typo fixes, README clarifications).
- Documented every AI-assisted change in the pull request descriptions so maintainers understood the workflow.
- Outcome: two small PRs merged; larger refactors still live in forks/practice branches.
CIRIS Covenant site
- Paired with a maintainer on the contributor application form; my code followed their guidance + AI prompts.
- Added environment notes (Netlify variables, preview steps) after running through the deployment myself.
- Outcome: documentation PR merged; any future automation ideas are tracked as TODO notes.
Where I'm learning next
Accessibility CI templates
- Goal: package the Axe/Lighthouse CI recipes I use on my portfolio into a reusable workflow.
- Status: prototyping inside a personal repo with AI-generated scaffolding; no upstream PR yet.
- Next step: share a branch with interested maintainers for review before claiming adoption.
Ethical AI working group
- Goal: help document governance checklists inside CIRIS working sessions.
- Status: attending calls + keeping shared notes; haven’t merged any code yet.
- Next step: convert those notes into public blog posts so others can follow along.
Update cadence
I audit this page quarterly. When something lands (or stalls), I log it inside the Contributions hub and in honesty.md so there’s a paper trail.
